With the change of seasons come a change in the weather, and a cool weather favorite has always been hot chocolate! Chocolate has fine particles and milk proteins that can make this a difficult stain to remove so start by presoaking the item in cool water and good liquid laundry detergent for about 30 minutes to help loosen the protein part of the stain.

From here, if your stained item is white:

  1. Pre-treat

    Pretreat with a bleach and water solution made with ¼ cup Clorox® Disinfecting Bleach added to ¾ cup water. Apply the bleach and water solution to the stain and then immediately machine wash the item.

  2. Wash

    Wash immediately in the warmest water recommended on the care label with detergent and ⅓ cup Clorox® Disinfecting Bleach.

  3. Air dry

    Air dry the item and check to make sure the stain is completely removed. If stain remains, repeat steps above.

If your stained item is colored or contains spandex:

  1. Soak

    Again, soak fabric in cold water and good liquid laundry detergent for about 30 minutes to help loosen the protein part of the stain.

  2. Apply

    Apply Clorox 2® for Colors Stain Remover and Laundry Additive directly to the stain and rub in. Wait 10 minutes (use a timer to keep track of the time), then wash immediately in the hottest water recommended using detergent and more Clorox 2®.

  3. Air dry

    Air dry the item and check to make sure the stain is completely removed. If stain remains, repeat steps above.
